Leeds knifepoint robbery: Armed police swoop in after morning street robbery in Harehills

Footage online showed three marked and two unmarked police cars arrive on Ashton Road and approach a property carrying weapons.
A 22-year-old man was arrested and has since been charged with a number of offences including causing damage to a police vehicle.

Hide AdA spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “At 10.23am yesterday, police received a report of a street robbery in Ashton Road, Harehills, involving a man in possession of a knife.
“Armed officers were deployed to the area and arrested a 22-year-old man from a nearby address in connection with the incident.
“He was subsequently charged with causing criminal damage to a police vehicle, a public order offence and failing to provide a sample for a drug test. He was due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court today.
“Enquiries are ongoing into the robbery.”
