Victor Orta spent most of January putting the framework in place for signings at the end of the season, and the rumour mill is already throwing up potential targets.
The Whites continue to be linked with a number of players currently plying their trade in Italy – which may have something to do with Andrea Radrizzani’s connections.
And that is where the latest name has popped up from – Italy under-21s international Tommaso Pobega.
According to Tuttosport, the 21-year-old central midfielder is subject of interest from Leeds and Premier League rivals Leicester City.
Pobega is currently on loan at Serie A side Spezia from AC Milan, where he has provided three goals and two assists.
Naturally, Pobega wants to succeed with Milan after being tipped for a big future but he could be prized away.
It is claimed Milan could easily’ make €10million (£8.7m) from a possible sale, should Leeds or the Foxes make a move.
Staying in Italy, Udinese sporting director Pasquale Marino has failed to rule out Leeds target Rodrigo De Paul leaving soon.
The Argentine was one of Marcelo Bielsa’s main targets last summer but the Whites were priced out of a move.
Since then, the 26-year-old has also reportedly attracted interest from Liverpool and Juventus.
“He has characteristics that many top clubs in Europe are missing,” Marino told Italian broadcaster Radio 24.
“I hope it doesn't happen, but whoever signs him next summer will raise their team to a different level.”
