Leeds United host Southampton in their forty-sixth and final league fixture of the 2023/24 Championship season with automatic promotion still in reach, but a spot in the play-offs looking more than likely.

The Whites are without Dan James, Pascal Struijk and Stuart Dallas for the visit of the Saints, while Connor Roberts and Patrick Bamford are both doubts. Neither are likely to feature from the start if passed fit, meaning Daniel Farke is not expected to make sweeping changes from last Friday’s line-up against Queens Park Rangers.

Farke admitted Leeds embarrassed themselves at Loftus Road as hopes of returning to the Premier League via the top two all but slipped through their fingers this past week. However, the manager insists this week’s training has been positive and given him reason to be carefully optimistic of securing a result against fellow promotion hopefuls via the play-offs, Southampton.

Build-up, team news, line-ups, match coverage and analysis here throughout the afternoon. Kick-off is at 12:30pm. Stay tuned.

Leeds United vs Southampton LIVE

74’ Firpo deliberately blocks Walker-Peters off the ball. Referee plays advantage. Got to withdraw him if he's going to do that.

73' Harwood-Bellis' cross is met and glanced just wide by Kamaldeen in the middle. Rare Saints attack this half.

72' Firpo booked for his reaction to an officiating mistake, awarding a goal kick instead of a corner. Left-back just laughs and claps, then gives a big sarcastic thumbs up to the fourth official.

Close to an equaliser

69' Firpo down the left flank with a good cross, intercepted by McCarthy's glove which takes it away from Byram who was arriving at the back post.

Intensity disappeared

68' Good period of sustained pressure ends with a Saints throw on the far side. Leeds seeing plenty of the ball in the second half but haven't been able to do anything with it.

Downes off; Rothwell on for the visitors.

Subs on both sides

62' ON - Anthony, Joseph, Gray

OFF - Georginio, Kamara, Gnonto

Saints change: Kamaldeen on; Adams off.

60' Big round of applause from the West Stand as Anthony, Joseph and Gray are called back to the bench, ready to be brought on.

No yellow, definitely a flag

58' Smallbone shoves Ampadu to the ground off the ball. No yellow. Ampadu had put his hands on the Saints midfielder moments earlier but referee doesn't deem either infraction worthy of a booking. Armstrong then rounds Meslier but flag is up.

56’ Rutter is really struggling out there. For confidence and energy it looks like. Elland Road has obviously gone flat but the performance in general is not delivering.

Second half thoughts

54’ Pretty flat opening to the second half. Crowd have obviously got wind of Ipswich’s second, Southampton content to let Leeds see plenty of the ball which they’ve not done an awful lot with in these first ten minutes. Officials still doing their best to antagonise Elland Road.
