He said: “Having tried some of these desserts, specifically the Chocolate & Cherry, Rhurbarb, and Apple & Vanilla, I can say that they [the patisserie] are some of the best I have ever tasted in the UK; a pleasure for the eyes and a wonderful display of skill at it’s best.”

Renowned as the crème de la crème of places to visit for a quintessentially English afternoon tea experience, the tearooms have won many regional and national awards.

In 2011 they were named as one of only 12 national winners of the highly coveted new ‘award of excellence’ by the Tea Guild and the year prior to this they won the Tea Guild’s ‘Top Tea Place’. These awards and many others, rank The Black Swan among the finest establishments to enjoy afternoon tea, including The Ritz in London, Claridges and The Dorchester.

Served on a three-tier silver tea stand and with a choice of 27 teas and tisanes (or a selection of coffees, if preferred), afternoon tea here is a real treat and has a sense of occasion. Enjoy them in good company by one of the log fires.

A celebratory glass of Champagne is an optional extra.

The Tearooms are open each day (10am - 5.30pm)

Prices are £21.95 per person for Traditional Afternoon Tea and £31.95 for Champagne afternoon tea.

Regular events in the Tearooms include tea dances and tea tasting and pairing.
