Why we must heed voices of these Leeds youngsters on racism issues - the YEP says

And today’s front page is dedicated to the mature outlook from the pupils at KSA Primary School in Leeds.

This week has seen the issue of race and equality truly pushed to the fore after the death of George Floyd in America.

Headlines have been dominated by pictures of protesters marching through the streets with a simple message: to end discrimination.

This week also further highlighted that divide after a review by Public Health England found black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) people are at significantly higher risk of dying from Covid-19.

Leeds is an incredibly diverse city - it is home to more than 170 different ethnic groups with over 104 languages spoken.

And today they speak louder than ever before.

Racism is no longer someone else’s problem. And we would all do well to heed the voices of those youngsters on our front page.
