The owners of a Leeds city centre restaurant say they have been left “devastated” after it was raided by burglars who stole their “lucky mascot”.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed officers were investigating the early-hours break-in at Mans Market, at West Point, between Whitehall Road and Wellington Street.

Two burglars smashed through the glass door of the Chinese restaurant and stole spirits and an iPad on Sunday morning, police said in a statement.

In an Instagram post on its official page, the team behind Mans Market said: “We’re absolutely devastated to share that Man’s Market was broken into on Saturday night around 4am.

“It seems even the bad guys couldn’t wait to get their Man’s Market fix! They smashed our window and took valuable items, including our beloved (and not-so-lucky) Lucky Cat Mascot.

“If you were in the area and saw anything suspicious, please let us know. Your help could make all the difference in bringing our mascot back home.”
