Marc Roca looks set to spend a second season on loan at Real Betis from Leeds United

Real Betis president Angel Haro is 'convinced' Marc Roca will be returning to the La Liga club this summer. Roca joined Betis on loan around 11 months ago following Leeds United's relegation from the Premier League and managed to impress with his performances.

As such, a permanent move for the midfielder had been touted as Betis look to add to their midfield ranks over the summer and build on this season's seventh place finish, which was enough for the club to earn qualification to the Europa Conference League. However, Leeds' failure to win promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking reportedly opens the door for Roca to leave Elland Road on loan once more this summer.

A loan deal is what Betis are pursuing then in order or to secure the midfielder's services for another season and while Haro has suggested that conversations are yet to take place over a deal, the president is more than confident of being able to finalise Roca's return.

"We are convinced that he will continue a year on loan as Leeds does not move up," Haro told the Spanish press about Roca, per Diario de Sevilla. "Sign him as a property? It depends on the conversations with Leeds, but if Guido and Carvalho leave, the centre midfield must be reinforced."

Roca made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Verdiblancos this season, playing a key role for the club in the league and in Europe. In fact, for the first half of the season he missed just one game and played 90 minutes on a regular basis, too, which is something he struggled to do as frequently while at Elland Road.

His influence waned over the second half of the campaign and between February and May he made just six league outings. However, he did enough to end the campaign with four goals and three assists under his belt and, speaking in March, the former Bayern Munich man opened up on his delight to be in Seville with Betis.

"The reality is that I am happy here," he said. "I'm happy with my teammates, with the coaching staff, with the club's workers. I feel happy here, me and my family. I have given my opinion to my agents so that they can try to do the best .

"There is a clause like this year. If Leeds is not in the Premier League I can go out on loan again. Let's see. It depends on whether they go up or not. These are things out of my control. I sincerely hope they go up, because I wish them the best for all the teams I have been in. I am grateful to them, I wish them the best, it has been my home, and from there we will see."

Roca has spent just one season in the Whites' first team after joining in the summer of 2022. Unfortunately, despite his 32 outings in the Premier League, he couldn't prevent the club from being relegated.
