Decisions taken on Leeds United men after injury news as Thomas Tuchel names England squad

Thomas Tuchel has named his England squad for November’s Nations League games.

Leeds United have received a timely boost upon England boss Thomas Tuchel naming his Three Lions squad for November’s Nations League games.

Whites no 9 Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s fine start to the new season earned the striker another England recall for the four Nations League games during the new extended September and October international break, the forward joining new Leeds keeper James Trafford in the squad.

Trafford, the club’s new record signing, was given starts for the first two games of the break against Spain and Czechia before Everton’s Jordan Pickford took his place back between the sticks for the matches against Croatia and second clash against Czechia.

Tuchel had declared towards the start of the break that he wanted to see both keepers in action and Trafford kept a clean sheet in the second of his outings as England recorded a 2-0 win in Czechia after the 3-2 loss at home to Spain.

Calvert-Lewin, though, was given very little game time, the striker getting seven minutes from the bench against Spain and another eight minutes as a late substitute in the final match against Czechia.

The Whites no 9 had been an unused substitute for the games against Croatia and Czechia in between.

Calvert-Lewin has since had slight struggles with a foot injury, Whites boss Daniel Farke revealing at this week’s pre-Tottenham press conference that the striker had not trained on Thursday but that he was cautiously optimistic of a return to training the following day.

Nevertheless, the injury news raised question marks over the striker’s availability but in a Leeds boost Calvert-Lewin and Trafford have both been named in Tuchel’s squad for November’s Nations League games.

Saturday’s visit of Spurs marks the last game before the November international break, in which England face two more Nations League games as a home clash against Croatia is followed by a trip to Spain.

There is, though, again no place for Leeds right back Jayden Bogle despite his impressive start to the season.

Bogle was nominated for the September Premier League player of the month award but the 26-year-old’s wait for a first senior international call up continues.

There is once again no place in the squad for Chelsea’s Cole Palmer or Manchester City’s Phil Foden but first senior call-ups for Borussia Dortmund’s Jobe Bellingham who joins his brother Jude in the squad and also Fulham’s Josh King.

Arsenal pair Declan Rice and Ben White plus Tottenham’s former Leeds loanee Djed Spence also all return to the squad.
