A round-up of the latest Leeds United news as the summer transfer window takes shape

The summer transfer window is up and running and the Leeds United transfer rumour mill is in full swing. Leeds haven't dipped into the market yet and nothing appears to be imminent at this point in time, but the Whites are expected to be active as the weeks tick by as they look to add to Danie Farke's squad.

The club will keen to keep most of their squad intact but one or two departures are expected and Leeds will be readying themselves for interest to emerge in their star players. As the summer transfer window begins to gather pace and intensify, here's a round-up of some of the latest Leeds news.

Betis ready to make their move

Real Betis appear to readying a bid to sign Leeds United defender Diego Llorente this summer. Betis are on the verge of landing Marc Roca permanently after his successful loan with the club last season and it seems they are willing to take Llorente off the Whites' hands, too.

Llorente has spent the last season and a half on loan at Roma and the expectation was that the Serie A side would take him permanently this summer. The situation is unclear though at this point and according to Spanish outlet Relevo, the club have suggested taking the defender on yet another loan deal.

Consequently, Betis believe they can steal a march in the hunt to sign the Spain international by offering Leeds a permanent solution, per the report. The Andalusian side are said to see Llorente as the perfect man to add to their backline and they would be willing to offer him a long-term deal to provide him with the security the 30-year-old would require.

Ben Godfrey price tag

Leeds United were keen on a loan move for Ben Godfrey in January as the Everton man struggled for game time at Goodison Park. They won't be returning for the former Norwich man this summer, though, it seems with Everton said to be looking for a fee of around £15m.

That's according to The Athletic, who claim the Toffees have already turned down a proposal of £8.5m from Serie A outfit Atalanta. Godfrey has just 12 months left to run on his deal and after rejecting the offer of a new contract, he could well be on the move this summer.

Godfrey made 15 appearances in the Premier League for Everton last season after forcing his way into the side at the back end of the campaign. He'll be hoping to play more of a key role next season, though, wherever he ends up.
