Your round-up of the latest Leeds United stories as speculation over Crysencio Summerville intensifies.

The summer transfer window has only been open a matter of days but already things are starting to heat up, both in West Yorkshire and across the country. Leeds United look set for another busy few months as those in charge look to strengthen Daniel Farke’s squad for another promotion push while also balancing the books to remain compliant with profitability and sustainability rules (PSR).

One or two key sales are expected, although reports of an imminent fire sale are wide of the mark, particularly after news of Red Bull’s arrival as minority shareholders and front-of-shirt sponsors provided a financial boost. Chairman Paraag Marathe has also made no secret of the desire to bring players in this summer and work is well underway in identifying potential targets. With all that in mind, the YEP has rounded up some of the latest transfer stories surrounding the club.

Bove for sale

Roma look to have put midfielder Edoardo Bove up for sale this summer, just months after his representatives were thought to have held talks with Leeds. Sky Sports Italy report that manager Daniele De Rossi has deemed 22-year-old surplus to requirements and so incoming offers will be considered - although a move to Elland Road is unlikely.

Leeds reportedly held talks with Bove’s agent ahead of the summer in the hope of building a rapport ahead of their potential promotion. But play-off final defeat to Southampton has consigned Farke’s side to another year in the second-tier and therefore likely priced them out of any deal, with Roma wanting between €18-20million (around £15-17m).

The midfielder’s representatives have since been tasked with finding a new club for their player and are believed to be working on potential Premier League suitors. Bove played 45 times for Roma last season alongside Leeds loanees Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen. The futures of both currently remain uncertain, although the former is more likely to remain in Italy.

Summerville demands

Leeds will reportedly demand an initial £35m for Crysencio Summerville amid intensifying interest from top Premier League clubs. Football Insider reports that a deal for the 22-year-old will also need to include performance-related add-ons, which could see those in charge at Elland Road bank significantly more.

Summerville is on the radar of several top-flight clubs after an outstanding first season of regular football, with 21 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances enough to earn him the Championship Player of the Season award. Leeds’ failure to go up has made an exit likely for the winger, given he is an obvious route to serious profit, having only signed from Feyenoord for £1.5m back in 2020.

Brighton are thought to have emerged as leading contenders and have ‘enquired’ about the possibility of signing Summerville, although Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea are also long-time admirers. Leeds will hope that increased competition kicks off a bidding war which would eventually see them bank the highest possible amount at a time when cash is needed.
